What are the main landmarks in Californie?

The police prefecture on Boulevard de la Mecque is the landmark Californie grew around. From that point the quarter spreads to a roundabout between Boulevard Fez and Boulevard Taddart, and on again between Boulevard Taddart and Boulevard Al Qods, so its named boulevards do the work its low villa skyline never claims. What is the history of Californie?

Californie owes its name to the war. In 1942, after the American landing at Casablanca, General George Patton set up camps on the Oulâd Haddou lands here, and his officers likened the climate to that of the American state of California, which stuck as the quarter's name. The Oulâd Haddou, a tribe of Idrissid descent tied to the Mediouna, had held these lands long before.

Affluent newcomers reshaped it later into the villa quarter it now forms within Casablanca.
