What is Jalingo known for?
Jalingo is the seat of the Muri Emirate, a town founded in the jihad era, and since 1991 the capital of Taraba State. Markets are its working centre. The main ones are the Jalingo Main Market, Kasuwan Yelwa, the Grain Market and the Mile Six Market, and the Asamu Festival is held every year in Kona, within the Jalingo local government area.

Fulani are the majority, with Mumuye, Kuteb and Kona as large minorities, and Fulfulde, Mumuye and Hausa are spoken alongside English.
