Zegwaart was a village in South Holland, sitting directly east of Zoetermeer, with its own name on the map long before the two grew together. Then the fields went. Zoetermeer expanded across them, and around 1978 a new division of the growing city was named Seghwaert after the village it had covered.
The spelling shifted with the naming, Zegwaart becoming Seghwaert, an older form kept for a quarter of houses and churches including De Doortocht and the Ichthuskerk. De Lichtzijde stands there too.
