The Romanov school, the real school building and the school of 19 February 1861 sit in the same quarter, which makes the walking short and the sights cumulative. Rooms are plain. The monastery side reads differently.
The Tikhvin Virgin Monastery and the Cathedral of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God anchor a quarter where Nikolskaya Church and All Saints Church stand within the same short round of streets. Beds are fewer here. Pilgrims and visitors after the church fabric take what there is, and the walk back into the merchant grid runs a few minutes at most.
River ground is the third choice. The Samara, Buzuluk and Domashka rivers all run past Buzuluk, and rooms out toward the water trade the protected frontages of the centre for space and a quieter road at night. The water tower survives, the House with Stars of David keeps its own frontage, and the Argasov town mansion and the Sokolov town estate fill the walk between them.

The Matveev brothers put up a merchant bank building with shops beneath it, and the Sokolov town estate and the Argasov town mansion mark the same generation of money in the town. A distillery joined the list. Faith held its own ground.
The Tikhvin Virgin Monastery and the Cathedral of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God gave the town its principal religious houses, and Nikolskaya Church and All Saints Church stand alongside them on the protected roll. Not every congregation was Orthodox. The House with Stars of David survives under that name.
Schooling arrived in stages, from the real school building to the Romanov school and the school of 19 February 1861, and the house of the justice of the peace records the town's civil business. War left a grave. Soldiers of the Czechoslovak People's Army who died of their wounds in the town's hospitals lie in a common grave that is protected in the same register as the merchant houses and the churches.
