The district was constituted in 1973 as Rostov-on-Don spread its administrative map across newer residential ground. Building went fast. Monuments followed the housing rather than preceding it, and the Monument to Alexander Pushkin, the Vladimir Vysotsky monument and the Monument to the first-grader were set among the growing blocks to give the young borough its civic markers and its named corners.
Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral came later still, restoring a religious anchor to the quarter.
