What are the main landmarks in Bragino?

The eleventh microdistrict holds the most deliberate piece of design in Bragino, an internal pedestrian boulevard laid out between 1977 and 1983 by V. N. Belousov, E. F. Barkovskaya and I. I. Lyalyakina. In the second microdistrict the Oktyabr cinema came down in 2013, and Yaroslavl's first eighteen-storey block went up on the site. The Park of Veterans of the Patriotic War lies off the southeastern corner.

What is the history of Bragino?

Bragino began as a hamlet some nineteen versts from Yaroslavl, a village by the second half of the nineteenth century, and was taken inside the city limits in 1944. Workers' settlements followed. Building for the Northern industrial district started in 1956, and by 1963 fifty-three houses of one, two and four storeys stood there.

The general plan of that year put the city's housing growth in Bragino and allowed nothing but flats, since 1961 had been the last year private building was permitted. Yaroslavgrazhdanproekt drew the detailed plan in 1964 under G. B. Tsarapkina, and the 1971 plan extended it into Novoye Bragino, a second group of four microdistricts.

Where is Bragino?

Yeleny Kolesovoy street bounds Bragino to the southeast, Tutayevskoye shosse to the northeast, Gromova to the southwest, and Volgogradskaya and Babicha to the northwest. Ponds and the Altair centre lie west, the Pashukovo district north, and the Northern industrial zone south. Beyond Tutayevskoye shosse sit the Volga-side settlements of Skobykino, Mostostroy, Pavlovsky and Ivankovo.
