What are the main landmarks in Almby?
Almby Church stands in the east of the district, and in its churchyard lie the racing driver Ronnie Peterson and the poet Levi Rickson, known as Jeremias i Tröstlösa. The Almby smithy, with roots in the 18th century, was pulled down in 2016. The cardboard mill closed in 2010 after more than a century.
What is the history of Almby?
Almby was the church village of Almby parish and, after the reform of 1862, part of Almby rural municipality, where a municipal community was set up on 29 October 1926. Most of its houses went up in the 1920s and 1930s. The paper mill founded in 1901, later the Örebro cardboard mill, fed the growth, alongside shoe factories such as Iris and Almby-sko and the Örebro motor works.
Almby joined the town of Örebro in 1943.
