Where to stay in Jette
Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Jette is a bedroom municipality, not a destination one. Anyone choosing it is choosing quiet streets over being inside the City of Brussels, and the trade is a commute across two or three municipal boundaries each morning rather than a walk. Karreveld Castle sits on that edge.
The grounds by Molenbeek-Saint-Jean give the north-western corner of the region its one obvious set-piece, which is worth knowing when the alternative is a room with nothing to walk to after dark. The City of Brussels is the obvious alternative. It carries the Brussels City Museum, the Fashion & Lace Museum and the crowd of hotel desks that go with them, and a night there costs the traveller nothing in transit at either end of the day.
Laeken splits the difference. The Church of Our Lady of Laeken and the Atomium both stand on that side of the City of Brussels, close enough to Jette that the two can be worked into a single afternoon. Ganshoren and Koekelberg are quieter still.
Both press directly against Jette, and a stay in either behaves much as one here does, which makes the choice between them a matter of which boundary sits nearer the road out.

The record starts Jette in 1841. That is the founding date attached to the municipality, which puts its formal existence a decade after the 1830 revolution whose martyrs are commemorated by a monument on the Brussels side. The date is the only firm one.

Little of the municipality lies more than a short distance from one of those six lines, which is why a stay in Jette works as a base for the whole north-western quarter of the capital region.

Weather here is Brussels weather. Jette shares the temperate northern-hemisphere conditions of the whole Brussels-Capital Region, and the record adds nothing finer than that: no rainfall series, no seasonal table and no named wind. The municipality is too small to differ.
Whatever falls on the City of Brussels falls on Ganshoren, Koekelberg and Jette inside the same hour, which is the practical extent of what the entry supports.
How do you get to Jette?
Everything routes through the City of Brussels. Jette has no international terminal of its own, so arrivals reach the Brussels-Capital Region first and then cross Koekelberg or Molenbeek-Saint-Jean to get out to the north-western municipalities. That closing stretch is brief.
Drivers coming from the Flemish side pass Asse or Wemmel instead and enter Jette without touching central Brussels at all, which is the quicker approach when the destination is Karreveld Castle rather than the museums.
