What is the history of Rechytsa?
No charter year survives in the record for Rechytsa, so the town's age has to be read from what stands in it rather than from a date, and the churches are the oldest witnesses available for that reading. Water came first in any case. A settlement on the Rechytsa River, within reach of the Dnieper, had a route and a name before it had any administrative rank, and the river still carries the name the town uses.
Rank arrived later. Rechytsa became the administrative centre of Rechytsa District, which fixed its role within Gomel Region and gave the surrounding countryside a single point of reference. Faith left the durable fabric.
