What is the history of Mattenbach (Kreis 7) / Deutweg?

A footpath first recorded in 1325 ran through the quarter between the Töss and Oberwinterthur. Its name comes from Old High German 'diet', people. The Deutweg was a public long-distance way, and it is listed as a historic route of national importance.

Most growth came between the wars and in the 1940s, when the Catholic Herz Jesu church was built in 1934 and the Reformed Zwinglikirche in 1940. The Deutweg shopping centre opened in 1995.
