What is the history of Mattenbach (Kreis 7) / Endliker?

The quartier takes its name from the Flurname Hinter Endlikon, and that from a settlement called Endlikon which was still traceable in 1401. Zürich's Siedlungsnamenbuch reads it as the settlement of the Andilo or Antilo farms, Andilo being a pet form of Ando or Anto, which puts it with the various places called Endingen. A 2019 Neujahrsblatt of the Stadtbibliothek Winterthur offered another reading, taking the name as a mocking one for a remote spot.
