Brno annexed Veveří in 1850. Its present outline was fixed in 1969, and since November 1990 the territory has belonged to Brno-střed, which puts the whole of it under the district covering the historic core. Names outlast the boundaries.
The Former augustinian monastery, the Bust of Václav Robert Kounic and the Björnstjern Björnson memorial each fix a piece of that older Veveří in stone.
