Where to stay in Niederzwehren
The practical side of choosing where to sleep.
Niederzwehren offers a residential base rather than a sightseeing one. Beds are limited. Those who stay do so among the streets around the Lukaskirche Niederzwehren and the Matthäuskirche Niederzwehren, with the war cemetery and the castle site known as the Burgstall Niederzwehren the only real destinations inside the district. Kassel's museums lie in the centre.
If you want a low-key Hessen address with quiet history at the door, Niederzwehren repays you.

About Niederzwehren
What are the main landmarks in Niederzwehren?
Three fixed points give Niederzwehren its shape. The Burgstall Niederzwehren marks where a castle once stood, while the Lukaskirche Niederzwehren and the Matthäuskirche Niederzwehren divide the parish work between them. The war graves are the fourth.
Kept for the British prisoners who died in captivity during the First World War, the cemetery draws visitors from further away than anything else in the district.
What is the history of Niederzwehren?
Niederzwehren's oldest mark is a castle site. The Burgstall Niederzwehren is what remains of it, an old fortification site now enclosed by a district of Kassel that grew around it. War changed the record.
During the First World War a prisoner-of-war camp stood here, and the cemetery laid out for the British prisoners who died in captivity is the reason a small Hessen district appears in accounts written far from Kassel.
Where is Niederzwehren?
