The Haltepunkt Salzgitter-Watenstedt sits on the Salzgitter-Drütte to Derneburg line, with the RB44 running between Braunschweig and Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, so arriving is easy enough. A KVG Braunschweig bus also serves the place. Industry surrounds it.

What are the main landmarks in Watenstedt?
The evangelical church and the Catholic Annakirche are the two old buildings, and a Millî Görüş mosque also stands here. It never had its own pastor. Until 1625 the parish was a filia of Barum, then it joined with Leinde, and since 1974 it has shared a Pfarrverband.
What is the history of Watenstedt?
A charter of 18 October 1186 has Bishop Adelog of Hildesheim confirming the foundation of Neuwerk monastery near Goslar by the Vogt Volkmar and his wife, and listing its holdings, among them four and a half Hufen in Watenstedt. Emperor Frederick Barbarossa confirmed the same in a document of 28 August 1188. It stayed in the Landkreis Wolfenbüttel.
An administrative act made it part of the Großstadt Watenstedt-Salzgitter on 1 April 1942, and that city was renamed Salzgitter on 23 January 1951.
Where is Watenstedt?
Watenstedt lies in the Ortschaft Ost. The Salzgitter-Drütte to Derneburg railway runs through it, and the Haltepunkt is to gain a second platform and become a station. A crossing here took the name Kreuzung der Metallerinnen und Metaller in 2016.
