What is the history of Annen?
Annen's record reaches back to 1150, and before the incorporation of 1929 the place belonged to the administrative district of Landkreis Hoerde rather than to Witten. Industry left a darker record. A camp attached to the Annener Gußstahlwerk stood in the borough, and two memorials, one of them on the Kommunalfriedhof Annen, keep the forced labourers in view.
