The Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family dominates the neighbourhood, and its Crypt and Nativity Facade are recorded separately as heritage in their own right. Gaudí left more than one mark. Casa Planells, the Sagrada Família schools, the Font de l'avinguda Gaudí and the Fanals de l'avinguda Gaudí are listed alongside it.
Plaça de la Sagrada Família faces the church. Industrial pieces survive too, among them Fàbrica Damm, the Alambic Damm and Fàbrica Myrurgia, together with houses such as Casa Ginestà and Cases Vallés.
What is the history of Sagrada Família?
Registers put 1882 against the neighbourhood. The name came from the church of the Sagrada Família, the work of Antoni Gaudí, which stands in the centre of the neighbourhood and lent its title to the whole barrio. Eixample framed it administratively, and Barcelona in Catalonia sets the wider frame.
Industrial buildings survive in the barrio, among them the Fàbrica Damm and the Fàbrica Myrurgia, both listed. Sources say little else here.
