Niemi, Lahti — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Two museums make the visit. The Suomen moottoripyörämuseo lines up motorcycles across the decades, and the Suomen melontamuseo follows canoeing and its craft, both set out here on the northern side of Lahti. Neighbouring Kiveriö shares the calmer, residential feel of this corner away from the downtown core.

Niemi turned outward to the water. The northern edge of Lahti drew study and collections to this headland, and two museums settled in: the Suomen moottoripyörämuseo with its motorcycles and the Suomen melontamuseo telling the story of paddling, both keeping the district's name on the city's cultural map.

The district sits on the northern flank of Lahti. Kiveriö lies to its south-east, with Kivimaa on the same north-eastern side, and the rest of the city spreads back toward the centre on higher ground south of this headland.
