This is the district to walk for history. The Wolkoffin talomuseo opens a merchant home, the Lappeenrannan museot draw the threads together, and the Lappeen kirkko adds one of the oldest churches in Lappeenranta. Outdoors, the Tykistökoulun muistomerkki and the Rakuunakivi stand among the memorials, with the Comet Mk I Model B and other tanks parked nearby.

What is the history of Tykki?

Garrison and merchant life built this district. Tykki carries Lappeenranta's military memory close to the surface, its very name echoing the artillery that trained here, and that past is set in stone across the area through the Tykistökoulun muistomerkki and the Tykistörykmenttien muistomerkki, the Rakuunakivi marking the old dragoons, and regimental stones like the JR 4:n muistokivi and the Lallukan hautamuistomerkki.
