Where to stay in Carpiagne

Where visitors usually base themselves, and why.

There is nothing here to stay in. The Marseille share of the quartier is taken up by the Camp militaire de Carpiagne, and the civil sector in the southeast is uninhabited, lying inside the core of the Parc national des Calanques. Anyone visiting bases themselves elsewhere in the 9th arrondissement.

About Carpiagne

What are the main landmarks in Carpiagne?

The massif spéléologique de Saint-Cyr/Carpiagne runs beneath the quartier. Above it stand Mont Carpiagne and the col du Boucard, whose southern flanks fall inside the park core, and Mont Lantin carries its own aven. A path crosses from the gouffre de la Tête ronde to the summit of la Candolle.

What is the history of Carpiagne?

The camp gives the quartier its purpose. The 1er Régiment étranger de cavalerie is stationed there, and the grounds spread beyond Marseille into Aubagne to the northeast and Cassis to the southeast.

Where is Carpiagne?

Carpiagne lies at the eastern edge of Marseille, on the way out towards Cassis. A northwestern band of the military ground sits inside the core of the Parc national des Calanques, running along the southern boundary of the 11th arrondissement and up to the quartier of la Barasse. The rest belongs only to the park's adhesion area.
