Mauvadi Vayal Bird Watching Point is a morning destination rather than a place with rooms of its own, so the practical plan is a night in Kannur and an early drive out to the water. Kannur district spreads well past the built-up city, and villages inland keep guest rooms that make sense only if a car is part of the plan.
