Bandra Kurla Complex was reclaimed from low-lying marsh beside the Mithi River. The marsh gave way to towers.
Older churches like Our Lady of Egypt Church survived the change, small reminders of the fishing and farming settlements that the planned grid of Bandra Kurla Complex replaced.
