What is the history of Mazagaon?
Mazagaon grew as one of the seven islands that were joined into Bombay, its early parish life carried by the Portuguese-founded Gloria Church. The docks came early. As the harbour of South Mumbai took shape the quarter turned to shipping and shipyards along its eastern shoulder, and the Church of Our Lady of Health, Cavel gathered a second congregation among the streets that climbed back from the water.
The cast-iron Khada Parsi column recalls a leading Parsi figure of the Victorian city. Later years added the Antarang, Sex Health Information Art Gallery to the quarter's cultural life.
