How the choice of base plays out on the ground.

Tehran is the natural base. The capital, about 25 kilometres to the north-east, has the full range of hotels, and the Tehran-Saveh freeway along the northern edge of Nasīm Shahr is one of its two roads in. Imam Khomeini International Airport lies about 17 kilometres to the south, so the airport side suits a night before an early international flight. Eslamshahr is about 7 kilometres to the east.

About Nasīm Shahr

Fast growth is the story.

What is Nasīm Shahr known for?

Nasīm Shahr was the village of Akbarabad until 1995, and between the 2006 and 2016 censuses it grew by nearly half. It shares the role of county seat of Baharestan County with Golestan, its neighbour to the south.

What are the main landmarks in Nasīm Shahr?

Two sites are worth knowing. Deh Shad Castle, a fortress from the Qajar period on the national heritage list, stands about three kilometres to the north, just over the line in Shahriar County. Nasimshahr railway station, owned by the Iranian state railway, lies about three kilometres south-east of the centre.

What is the history of Nasīm Shahr?

Nasīm Shahr is young. It was the village of Akbarabad until 1995, when it was made a city, and it was renamed twice in quick succession, to Mohajershahr in 1996 and to Nasimshahr in 1999. At the 2006 census it still belonged to Robat Karim County.

Bostan District was then separated from that county to help form the new Baharestan County, in place by the 2011 census, and the 2016 count found the city nearly half as large again as ten years before. Nasīm Shahr serves, with Golestan, as one of the two capitals of Baharestan County.

Where is Nasīm Shahr?

Nasīm Shahr lies on the plain south-west of Tehran at about 1,070 metres, some 25 kilometres from the centre of the capital. Neighbours crowd close. Eslamshahr is about 7 kilometres to the east, Golestan about 5 kilometres to the south and Robat Karim about 12 kilometres to the south-west.

The Tehran-Saveh freeway passes along its northern side.

How do you get to Nasīm Shahr?

Imam Khomeini International Airport, about 17 kilometres to the south, is the nearest airport. Roads do the rest. Traffic comes in on the Tehran-Saveh freeway to the north and the Ayatollah Saeedi highway to the south.
