Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Rooms in Ōdōri sort themselves by which end of the park they face. The Sapporo TV Tower stands over Nishi 1 chōme at the eastern head of the strip, while Nishi 12 chōme closes the western tip with far less noise around it. Everything else is a walk.
The Sapporo Clock Tower, the Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens and the Sapporo City Archive Museum all sit within a few minutes of the grass.

What are the main landmarks in Ōdōri?
The Sapporo Clock Tower anchors the strip. Museum after museum follows along it, among them the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, the Hokkaido University Museum, the Mighishi Kōtarō Museum of Art and the Kohara Dōjō Calligraphy Museum. What is the history of Ōdōri?
Sapporo's planners drew the line in 1869. It was designated the main street of a new grid city on Hokkaido, the axis every other block would be measured from, and instead it was left open and eventually turned into park. The park won.
The Sapporo Lilac Festival and the Sapporo Snow Festival take that ground each year, filling the blocks between Nishi 1 chōme and Nishi 12 chōme with stages and carved snow.

Ōdōri runs about 1.5 km from Nishi 1 chōme west to Nishi 12 chōme, a green band dividing Sapporo's grid into a north half and a south half.
