Gardens & Botanical

A garden is the one attraction with a fixed season — the same beds are a different place in April and in August, and some close entirely in winter. Decide what you want in bloom, then let that set the month.

Common questions

Are gardens worth visiting outside the flowering season?

Often, for different reasons. Structure shows in winter, when hedging, water and the bones of the design appear once the planting dies back, and glasshouses run all year. A garden built around one flowering month is honest about it; the rest of the year is a walk.
