Kyushu supplies the wider setting and Saga Prefecture the administrative one, which between them place Tosu among the smaller municipalities of the island.

The year runs warm. A subtropical band covers this part of Kyushu, which lengthens the season for walking out to Tashiro-Ōta Kofun and the Yasunagata Site rather than reading about them indoors.
