Street names here are castles. Every street in Veldhuizen is named after a Dutch castle or noble house, with the Kastelenlaan and the Slotlaan carrying the through traffic and most of the high-rise. Klaphek names the hunt instead.
That neighbourhood uses names like Sint-Hubertus and de Jagermeester, and it is counted part of Veldhuizen. Ede's centre lies east of the quarter.

What are the main landmarks in Veldhuizen?
The buurtspraak is the thing to see here. Ede-Veldhuizen is the only buurschap of Ede whose organisation still exists, and its assembly meets once a year on the third Thursday of September. It was held in a church choir once.
The Oude Kerk gave it a place, and the meeting now moves between locations. Anyone who lives inside the historic boundaries and owns a house on their own ground, or a bunder of land, has a say. National heritage recognised it in 2018.
The buurtspraak was entered in the Dutch inventory of intangible cultural heritage on 14 December of that year.
What is the history of Veldhuizen?
Veldhuizen began as a buurschap outside the village of Ede. Its people looked after the roads and the water, and the geërfden of the buurt governed it under a Buurtrichter. Four Buurtmeesters carried out the rules.
Two came from the buurt and two from the village of Ede, and the keuren they enforced were made in the buurspraken. A Buurtscheuter could fine you. That officer handled enforcement while the Buurtschrijver recorded the assemblies and the rest of the correspondence.
The oldest Buurtboek starts in 1596. The buurt then covered far more ground than the housing quarter does, and what remains of it is heritage rather than property, since the buurt owns almost nothing now. Veldhuizen A was built in the 1960s and 1970s.
Cheap rented housing and a good deal of green went up on a large scale with much high-rise, close enough in kind to the Bijlmermeer in Amsterdam, and six of its flats were demolished in October 2008 for the Het Nieuwe Landgoed project.
Where is Veldhuizen?
Veldhuizen lies in the north-west of Ede in Gelderland, bounded by the Oude Rijksweg to the north, the Proosdijerveldweg and Klaphekweg to the east and the Utrecht to Arnhem railway to the south, over about three hundred and fifty hectares.
