La Encantada de Villa is a gated seaside urbanización of Lima, set beside the Pantanos de Villa wetlands.

About La Encantada de Villa

Where to stay in La Encantada de Villa

The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.

Staying in La Encantada de Villa means quiet residential streets on the southern edge of Lima. The urbanización sits between the Pantanos de Villa wetlands and the fairways of the Country Club de Villa, so mornings run to birdsong and greens rather than traffic, and the Océano Pacífico lies a short drive south. Choose it for calm.

Guests who prefer a green, low-rise pocket over the packed hotel districts of Chorrillos and Santiago de Surco trade nightlife for gated lanes, garden walls and the reserve at the door.

About La Encantada de Villa

What are the main landmarks in La Encantada de Villa?

The wetlands define this corner of Lima. The Pantanos de Villa refuge spreads its reed beds and lagoons along the northern flank of La Encantada de Villa, drawing herons, flamingos and migrant waders to a rare coastal marsh. Golf frames the rest.

The Country Club de Villa keeps its greens on the eastern border, the neighbouring Los Cedros de Villa and Huertos de Villa close the residential grid, and the Océano Pacífico opens the horizon a short way south.

What is the history of La Encantada de Villa?

Hernando de Lavalle laid out La Encantada de Villa in 1958 on the coastal flats south of central Lima. The plan carved gated blocks from open ground beside the marshes that would later become the Pantanos de Villa refuge, and set the urbanización apart as a green, walled retreat from the growing city. A border dispute followed.

Chorrillos and Santiago de Surco have long each claimed the ground, so the neighbourhood sits on a line the two districts still contest.

Where is La Encantada de Villa?

La Encantada de Villa lies on the flat coastal strip of southern Lima, hemmed by the Pantanos de Villa wetlands to the north and the Océano Pacífico a short way south. Its blocks stay low and green. The Country Club de Villa borders the eastern lanes, while Huertos de Villa and Los Cedros de Villa close the grid on the remaining sides.
