What are the main landmarks in Załom?

Załom's landmarks are its trees. At the western end of the neighbourhood, at the corner of Lubczyńska and Leśniczówka Załom, an avenue of 26 pedunculate oaks is protected as a natural monument, the tallest of them 26 metres high. Two marked trails meet at the railway station, the Szlak Rekowski to Rekowo and the Szlak Anny Jagiellonki to Stargard.

What is the history of Załom?

The German name was Arnimswalde. In 1934 a branch of the Stoewer works began making car engines here, and from 1937 Pommersche Motorenbau GmbH built aircraft engines for Junkers. Załom joined Greater Szczecin on 15 October 1939, took its Polish name on 15 March 1947 after a few months as Wołynin, and was brought back within the city in 1964.

Its neighbourhood council dates from 1990.

Where is Załom?

Załom lies at the north-eastern edge of the Prawobrzeże district of Szczecin, north and west of national road 3 to Goleniów and Świnoujście, by the Szczecin Załom railway station. It borders the village of Załom in Gmina Goleniów. The neighbourhood is made up of Osiedle Załom and Osiedle Kasztanowe, where most people live, with Kablowa, Produkcyjna and part of Lubczyńska among its streets.
