What are the main landmarks in Eskilsminne?

One church marks the skyline. Elinebergskyrkan is the main built landmark nearby; inside the quarter, the houses nearest Jordbodalen and Per Eskils gata keep the most uniform 1920s classicism, with square plans, steep roofs and dark brick or pale render. The centre of the city lies to the north-west.

What is the history of Eskilsminne?

Eskilsminne is named after a farmer. Per Eskilsson owned part of an outfield called Ryttarelyckan and, having watched the town's workers walk out to its meadows, willed that his land go to homes for workers and craftsmen, on plots of about 1,000 square metres where they could grow potatoes and keep animals. He died in 1903, his two daughters drew up the plot plan in 1907 and sales began in 1908.

Most of the villas date from the 1920s on, and Ramlösavägen, the main street, follows the old road to the Ramlösa spa, opened in 1707.

Where is Eskilsminne?

Eskilsminne lies in south-eastern Helsingborg, on a stretch of the landborg slope. Its streets are very hilly. Jordbodalen and Fältarpsvägen bound it to the north, Lagmansgatan and Södra Hunnetorpsvägen to the east, and Elinebergsvägen and the Harlyckan sports ground to the west.

Ramlösavägen runs through it as the main street, and Elinebergskyrkan rises among its blocks.
