Segeltorp is mostly villas and terraced houses. A block of flats went up at Skansberget in the mid-1990s. Its centre keeps a health centre, a restaurant, a café-bakery, a gym and a hairdresser, though the post office and the grocery shops have closed.
Långängen has a riding stable and the Segeltorpshallen ice rink, and the woods south of it carry a floodlit trail and many hiking paths as far as the lake Gömmaren, which suits walkers and riders.

What are the main landmarks in Segeltorp?
Altartorp, rebuilt but still standing, has roots in the 1540s. Further south lie Kolartorp, known since the early 1700s and once worked by Vårby's charcoal burners, and Fullersta mill, in use from 1689 to the end of the 19th century. The old road to Södertälje, finished in 1670 and now Gamla Södertäljevägen, crosses the district with the Vårbybäcken stream.

What is the history of Segeltorp?
The name comes from the farm Segerstorp, listed in 1751 as a croft under Vårby manor; one reading takes 'seger' from an old word for waterlogged ground. Juringe farm is far older. A grave field at the centre shows settlement in the later Iron Age, and the name appears in 1538.
Villa plots were parcelled out from the early 1900s, when the name became Segeltorp. It was a municipal community from 1924 to 1953, held apart while it tried, and failed, to join Stockholm. Kungens kurva belonged to it until 2018.
