Taiyuan Station is the reason to consider Beitun at all, because a room near it keeps the urban half of the district and the run out toward Touke Mountain equally reachable. The district is large. Beitun Wenchang Temple and the Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum both sit on the built side.
If you want hills at the door rather than a platform, the ground below Touke Mountain answers that, and Taichung's own centre answers everything else.

What are the main landmarks in Beitun?
Two halves, two kinds of site. Beitun Wenchang Temple, Yide Mansion and Tsiau An Tong stand among the streets, while the Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum and Taichung Shuinan Airport mark the urban half of the district. Touke Mountain takes the other half upward.
It is the highest point in Taichung City, which gives Beitun a claim no other district of the city can make.
What is the history of Beitun?
Beitun was counted as countryside for a long time, and the arrival of Taiyuan Station is what pulled the district into the built fabric of Taichung. Those countryside years carry no date. Beitun Wenchang Temple, Yide Mansion and Tsiau An Tong are the buildings the register names alongside it.
