What are the main landmarks in Zavodskyi Raion?

Zavodskyi Raion keeps one monument of record, the Monument to the workers of Zaporizhia refractory plant killed in WWII, standing on Pivnichne Road at Pavlo-Kichkas. The Zaporizhvohnetryv works stand a few streets east. Tytan Stadium, raised by the titanium combine on Perspektyvna Street, is the other set piece.

Both stand in Pavlo-Kichkas. The Faeton technology museum belongs to Voznesenivskyi Raion, not to this one.

What is the history of Zavodskyi Raion?

Zavodskyi Raion's ground carries the left-bank landing of the Kichkas ford, the Krarian crossing that Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus described in the tenth century. Pavlo-Kichkas grew above it as a manorial village. The Dnieper drowned that settlement in 1932, when the reservoir behind the new Dnipro Hydroelectric Station filled the Kichkas and Osokorova ravines and the works rose in its place.

Zavodskyi Raion itself was cut from Ordzhonikidzevskyi Raion on 23 May 1969.

Where is Zavodskyi Raion?

Zavodskyi Raion holds the northern end of Zaporizhzhya's left bank, a little over fifty square kilometres between the Dnieper and the sorting yards at Zaporizhzhia-Live. Dniprovskyi raion lies across the water, on the right bank where old Kichkas stood. Voznesenivskyi Raion adjoins it to the south, and Shevchenkivskyi raion to the south-east. The Osokorova ravine lies under the water.
