The Củ Chi Tunnels define the commune. Two sections of the Địa đạo Củ Chi network open to visitors: Bến Đình, the closer and busier gate, and Bến Dược, paired with a large memorial temple honouring the war dead. Together they draw day-trippers from across Ho Chi Minh City to crawl a preserved stretch of the underground passages.

What is the history of Củ Chi?
War shaped this ground. During the conflict against foreign forces, fighters dug the Địa đạo Củ Chi, an extensive network of tunnels beneath the commune that served as shelter, supply route, and command post. The Bến Dược memorial temple was later raised to name the many who died in the surrounding fields.
In the 2025 reorganization, Củ Chi became one of the new wards and communes of Ho Chi Minh City.
