About Bregu i Diellit

Where to stay in Bregu i Diellit
The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.
Bregu i Diellit was built for households, not for guests, and a bed here sits in an ordinary Pristina apartment block. Hyzri Talla carries most of what a guest needs, from the Qendra Tregtare Bregu i Diellit shopping centre to the cafes strung along its pavements. Agim Ramadani runs north to the centre.
If you want a quiet street, the Technical Faculty campus a few minutes off across Arbënor dhe Astrit Dehari, and neighbours who live here all year, this slope answers better than the bazaar quarter.
About Bregu i Diellit
What are the main landmarks in Bregu i Diellit?
Bregu i Diellit carries one entry on Kosovo's protected heritage list, and it is not a mosque or a memorial but Ish Katastri i Komunës, the former municipal cadastre, a twentieth-century building at the quarter's southern end. The category on that list is architectural. Hyzri Talla gathers the Qendra Tregtare Bregu i Diellit shopping centre and Family Medicine Centre VI, while the Ismail Qemali primary school stands on Enver Maloku.
The National Library of Kosovo, the Newborn monument and the Prishtina Clock Tower belong to the centre of Pristina, downhill and north of here, and not one of them stands on this hill.
What is the history of Bregu i Diellit?
Bregu i Diellit was planned before it was built, one of three new quarters that Pristina's 1962 urban plan set out under the architect Bashkim Fehmiu. Dardania and Ulpiana were the other two. On 2 November 1989 Serbian police surrounded Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu, two leaders of the underground People's Movement of Kosovo, in Bregu i Diellit, and both men died in the gun battle that followed. A street in the quarter carries Afrim Zhitia's name.
Dua Lipa and her father Dukagjin, whose family is from here, named their Sunny Hill Festival after it.
Where is Bregu i Diellit?
Bregu i Diellit takes the slope between Ulpiana to the west and Mati 1 to the east, with Arbënor dhe Astrit Dehari dividing it from the Technical Faculty campus.
