What are the main landmarks in Pichling?

Near the mouth of the Traun, in the north of the district, lie the Großer and the Kleiner Weikerlsee, and the Pichlinger See lies in the south. Beside the Weikerlseen stands Solar City, a settlement planned on the drawing board. The district has two parish churches, the Pfarrkirche Pichling and the Pfarrkirche Linz-Solarcity.

What is the history of Pichling?

The name goes back to a field name first written in 1222 as Puhel, from the Middle High German bühel, a hill. The suffix -ing made it the settlement on the hill. Pichling became a district of its own on 1 January 2014.

Until then the area belonged to Ebelsberg. It spans the cadastral communities of Pichling and Posch and part of Ufer, and the cadastral community of Pichling is only about half the size of the district.

Where is Pichling?

Pichling lies south of the Traun, which bounds it to the north-west. The Danube forms its north-eastern limit. It borders Ebelsberg to the south-west, Industriegebiet-Hafen to the north-west and, for a short stretch, Kleinmünchen-Auwiesen to the west.

Beyond the city line lie Sankt Florian, Asten, Luftenberg, and Steyregg.
