Lend's riverside is the obvious base, with the Kunsthaus Graz on the water and the Schloßberg standing opposite, near enough that the Castle of Graz is a walk rather than a ride. The south is different. Toward the Gries boundary the streets stay workaday, set back from the river front, which suits anyone after a plain base rather than a view.

The Kunsthaus Graz holds the river front. Behind it the district's roll runs to the Bürgerspitalkirche, the Grabenkirche, the Antoniuskirche and the Kreuzkirche, with the Kirche und Kloster der Frauen vom Guten Hirten and the Kirche und Konvent der Kreuzschwestern Graz among the convents. The old core counts in too.
Burg am Grazer Schloßberg, the Franciscan Church, the Stiegenkirche and the Dreifaltigkeitskirche appear on the same list, along with the Altes Joanneum, the Diözesan-Museum Graz and the Palmburg.
What is the history of Lend?
The river set the boundary. Everything of Lend lies on the western bank of the Mur, set opposite the Innere Stadt and the Schloßberg, and the fourth district took its shape from that one line of water. Churches and cloisters followed.
The Bürgerspitalkirche, the Kirche und Kloster der Frauen vom Guten Hirten and the Karmelitenkloster Maria Schnee record a hospital and convent past, while the Altes Joanneum stands with the Universalmuseum Joanneum in the museum record.
Where is Lend?
Lend keeps to one bank. Gries lies south, the Innere Stadt and the Schloßberg stand east across the Mur, and the fourth district holds the western side.
