What is the history of Brigittenau?
Brigittenau began as marshy floodplain between the river channels, open ground where the Brigittakapelle drew pilgrims to its yearly fair. Its name spread to the quarter. The stretch once called Zwischenbrücken still carries its name in the Allerheiligenkirche Zwischenbrücken.
