What is the history of Universiteitsbuurt?
Universiteitsbuurt is a young name on old ground. Antwerp's printing and painting trades built this part of the centre, and the Museum Plantin-Moretus keeps the presses of the family firm that made the city a capital of the book. The Rubenshuis carries the painter's name across the same centre.
Teaching came later and left the wijk the name it wears, while the Letterenhuis gathers what Flemish writers wrote down.
