Where you base yourself shapes the visit — here's the character of each area.
Dundas Street West carries the shopfronts. A stay along it puts the Portuguese businesses of Little Portugal on the doorstep, while College Street offers the same on the northern boundary and Ossington Avenue closes the eastern side. Beaconsfield Village is the other option.
The area is mainly residential, and that sub-area runs between Dufferin Street and Ossington Avenue above Queen Street, with the GO Transit and Union Pearson Express corridor along the southern edge.

What are the main landmarks in Little Portugal?
Four churches and an arts centre. St. John's Cathedral sits among the named buildings here, alongside Saint Michael the Archangel Serbian Orthodox Church and St. Anne's Anglican Church, with Epiphany and St. Mark, Parkdale completing the religious set. The Koffler Centre of the Arts is the outlier, an arts venue rather than a congregation, and it stands in the same grid of streets between Lansdowne Avenue and Ossington Avenue.
What is the history of Little Portugal?
Two older names survive here. The ground west of Dufferin Street belonged to the former Town of Brockton, while the blocks between Dufferin Street, Dundas Street, Ossington Avenue and Queen Street still answer to Beaconsfield Village, a name dating from the sub-division of lots around Beaconsfield Avenue. Benjamin Disraeli supplied it.
Queen Victoria gave the British prime minister the title Lord Beaconsfield, and the street borrowed the honour before the neighbourhood borrowed the street.
Where is Little Portugal?
Lansdowne Avenue holds the western line. College Street runs the north, Ossington Avenue the east, and railway tracks close the southern side.
