The Planetenweg Uetliberg-Felsenegg starts on the heights and gives the quarter its main reason to be visited, and anyone chasing that route can stay anywhere on the district 3 side and still reach it early.

The Uetliberg TV-tower is the marker everyone sees. Below it the Planetenweg Uetliberg-Felsenegg traces a walking route along the crest toward Felsenegg, and the ridge itself holds prehistoric settlements, burial grounds, a Roman settlement and a medieval castle with its fortifications. Liebegg adds an Iron Age rampart.
Two churches carry the record beyond the hill: the Reformierte Kirche Zürich-Friesenberg below the slope and Thomaskirche Hard further out.

Long occupation marks the ridge. Prehistoric dwellings and burial grounds, a Roman settlement and a medieval castle with its fortifications are all recorded on the Uetliberg above Friesenberg, and the Liebegg rampart puts an extensive earthwork of the older Iron Age on the same high ground. Friesenberg itself belonged to the independent municipality of Wiedikon, which was incorporated into Zürich in 1893 and since then has formed the urban district 3 that the quarter sits within.
