This is a working city first. Rooms in Tuluá serve industry and trade ahead of tourism, so the centre runs to plain practical stock near the commercial streets rather than to anything built for a view, which is a fair exchange for a base in the middle of Valle del Cauca. The centre is where to be.
Jardín Botánico Juan María Céspedes supplies the one obvious green afternoon within reach of it. Estación del Ferrocarril Tuluá fixes the other side of town. A room near the old station leaves a visitor closer to the road out than to the shops, which suits anyone splitting a long drive through the department into two halves rather than sightseeing at either end.
Size helps here. Tuluá ranks fourth in the region behind Cali, Palmira and Buenaventura, so the choice of beds is wider than in the smaller towns around it and the streets keep some life after the offices close. Estación del Ferrocarril Tuluá survives from the period when track tied the towns of Valle del Cauca together, and it remains the clearest built link to that era in a commercial centre which has rebuilt itself repeatedly since.

Manufacturing and trade carried the city to fourth place in the region behind Cali, Palmira and Buenaventura, and Jardín Botánico Juan María Céspedes is the piece of civic ground that answers all that working character with something slower.
