What is the history of Engativá?
Engativá began as an independent municipality of the Department of Cundinamarca, a town in its own right outside the capital. It was annexed to Bogotá in 1954, folded into the city's expansion as the district it is now. Piped water came only after 1969.
Once part of Cundinamarca, Engativá carries the outline of that older town beneath the streets of Bogotá.
