Where to stay in Kalk
The practical side of choosing where to sleep.
Stay near St. Theodor or stay central. Kalk is one of Cologne's numbered Stadtbezirke rather than a hotel quarter, so the practical choice is a room close to St. Theodor and St. Joseph against a base in Cologne proper. Beds thin out past the churches.
Anyone visiting the Presbyterkirche or working in the borough will find the trade-off is quiet and space on one side, and the full run of Cologne's hotels on the other.

About Kalk
What are the main landmarks in Kalk?
Three churches carry the register. St. Theodor, Köln is the best documented of them, while St. Joseph and the Presbyterkirche complete a set that says a good deal about how many separate congregations Kalk supported before Cologne took it in. The Presbyterkirche is the odd one out.
Its name points away from the saints' dedications of the other two, and a walk between the three covers most of what the borough has kept from the years before 1910.
What is the history of Kalk?
Kalk was not always Cologne. The merger came in 1910, when the city absorbed the community, and the borough in its modern form, the eighth Stadtbezirk, was drawn up separately in 1975 under a later reorganisation of Cologne's districts. Two dates carry the story.
St. Theodor, St. Joseph and the Presbyterkirche all sit inside that frame, standing in a place that kept its own name through both changes.
Where is Kalk?
The borough takes in some 38 square kilometres of Cologne, the eighth of the city's Stadtbezirke and the setting for St. Theodor and the Presbyterkirche.
