Bochum-Langendreer station and Bochum-Langendreer West put the district within reach of the rest of the Ruhr area, which matters more here than any concentration of hotels, since rooms are scarce east of the centre. Kaltehardt is mainly residential, and Langendreerholz and Ümmingen belong to the district as well.

Three churches and a station. The Lutherkirche, the Christuskirche, and St. Marien mark the older ground, while the Heimatstube Langendreer keeps the local collection and Bochum-Langendreer station handles the traffic that made the district matter to the city. Little of this draws sightseers, and the churches and the Heimatstube belong to the streets rather than to a tour.
What is the history of Langendreer?
A freight station changed things. Bochum lacked comparable capacity, so the village and administrative district of Langendreer was incorporated into the city on 1 August 1929, and the yards were among the main reasons for it. Langendreer was one of the main centres of the East Prussian minority in Western Germany.
It remains the largest of Bochum's districts.
