Oliver-Valdefierro is residential ground on the western side of Zaragoza, bordering La Almozara, Delicias, Miralbueno, Universidad and the Barrios Rurales Oeste. The Residencia Ramón Pignatelli at Alto Carabinas is the busiest building in the district and its cultural centre. Vía Hispanidad runs through that sector.

The Residencia Ramón Pignatelli is the district's landmark, rehabilitated by the Diputación Provincial de Zaragoza and full at three hundred and twenty places. The colegio público Juan José Llorente and the iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Asunción came with the first houses. Both are Oliver's.
What is the history of Oliver-Valdefierro?
Oliver's origins go back to 1917, when the hills here carried only towers among farm plots. Mosén Manuel Oliver, a priest from Cantavieja in Teruel troubled by the state of those arriving in Zaragoza, parcelled land that he is said to have won from a friend of his niece at cards, and sold it cheaply to settlers to build their own houses. The colegio público Juan José Llorente and the iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Asunción followed.
In 1933 the Zaragoza-Valencia railway cut the barrio in two and set up a double social scale, those above and those below. The scar is closing.
Where is Oliver-Valdefierro?
Oliver-Valdefierro covers a little over four square kilometres on the western side of Zaragoza, which makes it wider than Almozara or Delicias. It borders La Almozara, Delicias, Barrios Rurales Oeste, Miralbueno and Universidad. The Zaragoza-Valencia railway still runs through it.
