The land was part of the old quadra de Vallbona in Sant Andreu de Palomar. Building began in 1963, led by a group that included Joan Antoni Samaranch, on farmland once meant for a cemetery that the damp ruled out. Large blocks went up without basic facilities, as was usual under Franco.

Neighbours fought for clinics, schools, and cleaner streets. A rat-hunting contest held in 1971 showed how bad things were.
