La Sagrera is among the best-connected barris underground, with Rodalies lines R3, R4 and R12 and metro lines L1, L5, L9 and L10. Blocks of flats line both sides of the Avinguda Meridiana, which splits the barri in two. The Plaça de Masadas is its centre.
The Centre Cívic La Barraca on the carrer Martí Molins opened in 1982 on the site of the old Imperial cinema, and the new Sagrera station, the barri's main public work, is still being built.

What are the main landmarks in La Sagrera?
The Parc de la Pegaso covers 3.5 hectares of the old Hispano-Suiza works beside the carrer Gran de la Sagrera, and the parish church of Crist Rei stands near the Plaça de Masadas, where the arcaded old market once stood. In La Sagrera, the Torre de la Sagrera, a 19th-century manor house, has been a municipal community space since 2017. Two old factories host the arts.
The Nau Bostik opened as a self-run arts space in 2015, and the Nau Ivanow, a former paint factory, has hosted performing-arts residencies since 1998.
What is the history of La Sagrera?
La Sagrera takes its name from the sagreres of the 11th century: Abbot Oliba agreed with the nobles that 30 paces around a church would be safe ground, where farmers built small stores for their harvests. In 1877 the core still had only about 48 houses. Then came metalworking and textile works.
On 20 April 1897 Sant Martí was annexed to Barcelona. The Hispano-Suiza factory opened in 1911 and left for the Zona Franca in 1971. That year the first attempt to meet by the Assemblea de Catalunya was broken up at Crist Rei.
