Where to stay in Las Tablas
Where visitors usually base themselves, and why.
The Metro settles it. Las Tablas carries three stations of its own on lines 10 and ML-1, Las Tablas, Ronda de la Comunicación and Palas de Rey, which puts a room here on the network rather than off it. Night buses run too.
The N24 comes out from Plaza de Cibeles after the Metro shuts, and the EMT lines 175 and 176 work the daytime from Plaza de Castilla, with the T61 running in from Estación de Fuencarral. What you trade is atmosphere, because this is office ground and new flats rather than old Madrid, and Sanchinarro over the southeast boundary was built the same way.

What are the main landmarks in Las Tablas?
Corporate architecture stands in for monuments here. Distrito Telefónica, the company campus and Telefónica's seat since 2007, is a run of glass buildings laid out in the shape of an H on the north side of the M-40. Ciudad BBVA finished in 2015.
Seven buildings make it up, and a tower of almost a hundred metres stands among them that Madrid knows as La Vela, with Dragados y Construcciones, FCC, Seguros CASER, Mediaset España and Capgemini holding seats nearby. One marker is not a building at all, since kilómetro 0 of the Anillo Verde Ciclista begins in Las Tablas, and the cycle and walking ring it starts runs more than sixty kilometres around the city.
What is the history of Las Tablas?
Nothing here predates the plan. Las Tablas came out of a Programa de Actuación Urbanística drawn up under the Plan General de Ordenación Urbana of 1997, and the building went up in the first years of the decade after, which makes the quarter younger than the Metro line that serves it. Telefónica arrived in 2007.
Its campus fixed the character of the place as office ground before the housing had finished filling in, and Ciudad BBVA followed in 2015 to confirm it. Older ground begins next door, in the historic core of Fuencarral to the west.
Where is Las Tablas?
Las Tablas lies west of the A-1 and east of the Madrid-Burgos railway, running south from the calle Nuestra Señora de Valverde, with Sanchinarro over the southeast boundary, Montecarmelo and Tres Olivos to the west, and Alcobendas beginning at its northern edge.
