The tenement at Peironcely 10, Madrid, a block within the wider Puente de Vallecas made famous by a wartime photograph, stands closest to the ward, while the Museo de Bomberos de Madrid sits a short way south in the same district. The larger draws lie northwest, toward the Retiro and Atocha edge of the capital: the Crystal Palace and Palacio de Velázquez in the Retiro gardens, the Royal Observatory of Madrid, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the Atocha station memorial.

What is the history of Numancia?
Numancia grew as one of the residential barrios of Puente de Vallecas, on the southeastern side of Madrid, Spain. The wider Vallecas area began as a separate town on the road out of the capital and was absorbed into the city as Madrid spread outward in the twentieth century. Working-class housing filled these blocks.
The ward carries little monumental history of its own, and its past is bound up with the growth of Vallecas rather than with any older settlement on the ward's own streets.
